Intervention Oncology combines high precision imaging with minimally invasive procedures to diagnose, treat and manage cancer.
Interventional radiology [IR] uses minimally invasive image-guided procedures to diagnose and treat diseases in nearly every organ system in the body. These procedures minimize physical trauma to the patient, reduces recovery time, as well as shorten hospital stays.
Most procedures are done just through a 5 mm puncture in the skin, like pinhole surgery, with the ability to reach almost any part of the body. The department is focused on Oncologic Interventions: from aiding in diagnosis of cancers to treatment and providing palliative care.
Our department provides tailored support across multi-disciplinary divisions, integrating high-precision techniques with core academic excellence.

A testament to our pioneering contributions in South Asia's medical physics and oncology curriculum research, establishing a legacy of clinical excellence.
Leading center in training international and national postgraduate fellows.
Trans arterial chemoembolization of liver tumors.
Percutaneous chemical ablation / microwave ablation of inoperable cancers.
For any cancer to be diagnosed and treated a tissue sample is required and biopsy services were a part of this great institute since it started.
Slowly with the advent of newer equipment and techniques the scope of Intervention Radiology has grown.
Constant endeavour to improve the facilities and the services offered is the hallmark of the department.
