Dr. Pragadeesh T

Dr. Pragadeesh T (Thamaraiselvan) is an Assistant Professor of Medical Oncology at the Cancer Institute (WIA), Chennai. He completed his DM in Medical Oncology at the Cancer Institute (WIA), following an MD in Internal Medicine from Kasturba Medical College, Manipal, and MBBS from PSG Institute of Medical Sciences and Research, Coimbatore. He also holds an MRCP (UK) and a DNB in General Medicine and have completed a Master’s degree in Molecular Oncology from the Centro de Estudios Biosanitarios, Spain.

His clinical and academic interests are focused on thoracic oncology, particularly non-small cell lung cancer, with an emphasis on genomics and targeted therapy. He has been involved in several lung cancer research initiatives and has presented his work at multiple international oncology meetings.

Dr. Pragadeesh has demonstrated consistent academic excellence during his training and was recognised as the Best Outgoing Student in both his postgraduate and super-specialty programs, in addition to receiving multiple gold medals during undergraduate medical education. In 2025, he was awarded the IASLC International Mentorship Program, through which he received focused mentorship in lung cancer and academic exposure at the University of Turin, Italy.

At Cancer Institute (WIA), he combines evidence-based clinical care with a strong interest in research and academic development, with the long-term goal of contributing to improved cancer outcomes and understanding disease patterns in low- and middle-income countries.
